I see very tight trading ranges where no human traders would be making profit since they'd be making less than 1% on a trade. Stocks can be in and out of algo 'control' on random days. But it can be recognized when they're running a stock and when you don't want to be in there. What kind of parameters and clauses they take in. I think the way to know the real specifics is to actually start looking at HTF products/bots and looking at the customization options. Even the top traders (who don't have prop trading firm experience) don't really understand the specifics, even though I've tried to find resources and practical observations just like you're trying to find right now. I've still successfully scalped stocks intraday but I would say stock selection is very important. It's murky at least to me about how it impacts the market as I just pick up things from what I read and in cases like CTRV, what I experience like when there is no Time of Sales print for more than a few minutes with bids and asks moving like this. I've read stats from a prop trading firm article (I think smb) that most algorithmic traders don't have as high an expectation as a professional human trader. Human traders cannot react that fast, they can't move orders within milliseconds, so that's an example of how you know this is inorganic price action and algorithmic traders at work. I do this a few more times and it keeps moving up. 70-.74 range that particular day and the ask moved immediately whenever I tried to place a limit order. Most information to help you learn and practice can be found in our wiki.Īs an example I tried to get into CTRV back in April something this year (I ended up bagholding it for a month or two, very inexperienced then).
